Audio Ecosystems!

CJSW is a non-profit organization that receives roughly half of its funding from an undergraduate student levy at the University of Calgary. This levy pays for the day to day operation of the station, but to cover the capital expenditures, some of the surprise costs, or upgrading equipment, we need to have a little extra money hanging around. This is where the CJSW FUNDING DRIVE steps in...

The very first CJSW funding drive took place to help us buy the necessary equipment to become a full FM station, and ever since it has been our only source of funds for capital expenditures. It has allowed us to pay for the upgrading of our production facilities, including the purchase of several mini-disc players, as well as providing us with a nest egg to help us make an eventual conversion to digital radio.The CJSW funding drive takes place in the last week of October with a catchy kickoff phrase like "Radio Gumbo," "Radio Bondage" and "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." It is a good way for listeners to show their support and enthusiasm for CJSW, providing us with cash donations in exchange for another year of good radio and the Friends of CJSW card, which gives them discounts at select Calgary businesses.

Because of your support, we had the most successful Funding Drive ever! The grand total for pledges, including Live Drive events, was over $230,000. Thank you to everyone who pledged, volunteered, and patiently listened to our on-air antics. Thanks also to all of the venues that hosted our Live Drive events, and the Friends businesses that donated items for giveaway. 

All that is left for you to do is come to the station, pay your pledge, pick up your swag and enjoy another great year of programming.

We count on your support to allow us to continue to bring you the finest radio programming in Calgary and beyond. As we prepare for new advances in radio in the next few years, your generous donations provide the means by which we are able to continue our quest to be one of the finest campus/community radio stations around. Friends - As part of our effort to reward people who help us out, the friends card has become a very powerful piece of laminated cardboard. with it, you can get discounts at many, many of your favourite stores in Calgary. For more info, click here.

Drop by our office anytime (location is the same as mailing address below) between Monday and Friday, 10:00am - 5:30pm, or mail a cheque payable to Friends of CJSW to:
