news

CJSW News airs every Monday at 11:00am and has a mandate to provide an alternative perspective on events covered by the mainstream media. We strive to cover issues that the mainstream often ignores, or find new and unexplored angles for stories covered by major news outlets. To that end, CJSW keeps the following goals in mind when creating our news programming:

  1. To present a fair, accurate and balanced account of events and issues.
  2. To cover issues and events not given adequate coverage by mainstream media.
  3. To discover unexplored or otherwise absent angles for issues already found in the mainstream media.
  4. To explore news with a focus on research and intelligent analysis.
  5. To provide a local perspective on national and international stories when possible.
  6. To cover news stories derived from, and of interest to, local communities.
  7. To cover news stories derived from, and of interest to, the University of Calgary community.
